Lomi Lomi

Date:  March  2011, 27th,28th,29th,30th

Continuing Education Hours

TIME :    TBD

Cost:

Instructor: Alice Belusko

Lomi Lomi 1 & 2 (Beginners) Hawaiian Lomi Lomi is a native healing art that has been practiced by Hawaiians for hundreds of years.  Traditionally, the work was very secretive and taught only to the chosen healer (Kahuna) in the family. Aunty Margaret Machado was chosen as such a healer and she decided to break Hawaiian tradition by teaching her style of Lomi Lomi to anyone who expressed a sincere interest in healing others.  Her style is called Pololei, and Aunty gained an international reputation teaching her work until 1999 and is now considered the “Queen of Lomi Lomi”.  During her reign (Aunty retired in 1999), Aunty granted permission to teach to certain apprentices who promised to teach her style of Lomi Lomi  exactly how it was taught to them. Alice continues this tradition with the Lomi Lomi 1 & 2 (Beginners) workshop.  Students will learn a full body routine with an introduction to the use of elbows and forearms.  Class size is kept small because of the participatory nature of the work.  Students must feel Lomi Lomi and be closely supervised to understand how to perform the technique. The individual attention and pace of the course ensures that you learn everything in the beginner’s class in one weekend.  Alice works on students throughout the workshop. The Pololei style of Lomi Lomi is deceptively simple.  It enables you to massage the body without ever using your thumbs.  Pressure radiates from 8 different forearm and elbow positions.  The tip of the elbow is hardly ever used.  Your forearm is used as a fulcrum and your body placement determines your leverage.  Slight angle changes create the exact pressureyou need.    Your hands are completely relaxed and your worries aboutcarpal tunnel and thumb injury are erased. The ability to feel tissue with the forearms/elbows has saved countless therapists’ careers and has kept Pololei Lomi Lomi alive and well. Join Alice in her fun, fast paced, Hawaiian style workshop that will bring new success to your massage career.  Class tuition includes a full color, digitally photographed, workbook and laminated quick reference sheet.  Class descriptionLomi Lomi 3 (Advanced) This class is designed to take your Lomi Lomi education to the next level. Students build on the basic routine and are taught advanced forearm/elbow placements for the entire body.  This includes detailed side work for the neck, hips and chest.  The student must possess a mastery of basic Lomi Lomi routine in order to progress to this next level.  Detailed forearm angles and body mechanics are stressed and practiced throughout the workshop.  The result is a smooth, flowing routine that provides the therapist with tools to last throughout their career. Class tuition includes a full color, digitally photographed, workbook and laminated quick reference sheet.

Date:  TBD as requested

TIME :

Continuing Education Hours: 6CE

Cost:  $130.00

Additional Materials fee: $10.00 paid directly to instructor

 Instructor: Dawn Kenny, MS

This workshop will introduce techniques for using sound, color and acupressure into your healing practice.  After scanning the charkas and auras of the body with your hand, we will work with the concept of using turning forks and/or colored light on acupressure points on the 12 meridians. Each meridian relates to an organ in the body that has vibrational frequency, when out of balance creates ailments and disease, yet can be balanced with a tuning fork.  Colored light can be used to increase the vibration of the forks or used alone on the chakras for healing. We will not only be working on the body, but also in the first 3 auras around the body to help keep stressful thought processes from entering the physical body. Basic acupressure will be introduced and used during the course.  These techniques will "fine tune" your healing practice with clients.

Instructor: Dawn Kenny, M.S. has been teaching alternative health practices for 20 years She has a Master's Degree in Excercise Physiology, a Master Esthetician, a Master NLP and Hypnotherapy Practitioner, Master Teacher of SSR and Shamanic Reiki, Yoga teacher/therapist and Postitional Release Therapy.  Her Studies also include training in Advanced Shamanism, Acupressure, sound/Color/Light Therapy and Healing Touch.

The word "Reiki" means universal life force energy. The techniques are more accurately called the Usui System of Natural Healing after the founder of the system Dr. Mikao Usui. There are three levels of attunement, One, Two and Master.

Reiki Level I

Continuing Education Hours - 8

Learn the basics & importance of meditation in channeling energy as well as the theory, hand positions and symbols of Usui method. During a Reiki 1 workshop you learn everything you need to know to focus and transfer your own natural healing energy for your own benefit and for the benefit of others. Reiki 1 is the first level of Reiki. Reiki 1 is essentially a hands-on workshop where you receive basic instruction in the Reiki technique from the Reiki teacher and immediate hands-on practice using Reiki. Reiki 1 is the first practitioner level that teaches you everything you need to know to give yourself and others Reiki treatments.  During the Reiki 1 workshop, your own natural healing ability is awakened through Reiki initiations. This innate ability is reinforced through practicing Reiki on yourself and others.   In each session, the Reiki teacher also shares personal knowledge and experience in Reiki with the students while encouraging and mentoring each student's practice of Reiki. By the end of the Reiki 1 training, each student receives Reiki Level I attunement, gives and receives at least one full traditional Reiki treatment, and is certified as a Reiki 1 practitioner by a Reiki master.
